Many religious works entail a film adaptation, which often becomes more popular and in demand among the audience than its printed format. Undoubtedly, the book contains more detailed descriptions, more food for thought and imagination, but the film enlivens the picture that the reader presents in his head while reading this or that story. Many complain that directors often modify the lion's share of the plot, add something, or vice versa, “throw out” the original text, thereby trimming, accordingly, timing and interpreting the story in their own way. In fact, there is nothing wrong with it, someone is content with only a book, and someone after reading runs to watch a movie to compare their visualizations with the director’s imagination. We picked up the top 10 films made from books that will forever remain favorites in the hearts of many viewers and readers.
Dusk
Despite the fact that many consider Stephanie Meyer's fantastic novel to be too sweet and pompous, this is insanely popular fantasy all over the world, especially among girls. The book version, like the screen version, consists of four parts, in each of which something happens that changes the plot abruptly.
This is not to say that Twilight can be put on a par with such novels "for women" as "Fifty Shades" and others, since the attractiveness of this series lies in the unusual characters of the main characters, in particular Bella. In terms of the percentage of sweetness, of course, the first part of a book or film wins, while the other three attract attention in other ways. Of course, many people are familiar with this love story of a simple girl and a vampire solely on the adaptations, on which the female sex bought up seats in movie theaters in seconds, but the books are no less interesting.
Diary of bridget jones
The story of Helen Fielding about the average girl Bridget, who has been trying to lose weight and get married all her life, is also a series of 4 books or parts of the film, each of which finds the main character in different age periods of her life and in different weight categories.
This is a beautiful good story, from which it emanates comfort and femininity, and Renee Zellweger, like no other, is suitable for the role of Bridget for the on-screen version of the novel. Actors for the film are really selected very well: each of them accurately conveys the character and manners of the hero, whose habits the reader notices in the book.
My fair lady or Pygmalion
The film "My Fair Lady" directed by George Cukor with Audrey Hepburn in the role of Eliza is certainly not a new film, it was shot already in 1964. Few of our compatriots read the Pygmalion of the writer Bernard Shaw in the original or at least in Russian, but the film, thanks to the main character, made a great impression on viewers around the world. Audrey perfectly coped with her role as an unbridled, illiterate, absolutely rude girl, but such an attractive and sincere nature, who fell into the hands of a phonetic professor, and soon turned into a beautiful lady.
By the way, the Russian series “My Fair Nanny” with Anastasia Zavorotnyuk is also filmed based on this play.
Harry Potter
Nowadays it is very difficult to find a person who has not watched the legendary Harry Potter. The story of Joan Rowling, consisting of seven parts, knows how to touch the hearts of not only children but also adults with its mysterious atmosphere, charismatic heroes and an amazing world of magic and wizardry.
Unlike all other legendary films made from books, Harry Potter is no less popular as a printed version of the story of the boy who survived, and even in the original it is often read by people from all over the world. "Harry Potter" is a legend for many people, usually associated with the New Year, comfort, family and childhood.
Lord of the Rings
Another legend is the trilogy of John Ronald Roel Tolkien “The Lord of the Rings” - the world of elves, goblins, hobbits, magicians and many other fantastic creatures. Unlike "Harry Potter", this story is more likely for adults than for children, long films with sometimes confusing plot are sometimes incomprehensible to mature people, what can we say about small viewers. In addition, the film is full of terrifying characters: goblins, orcs, and other villains.
Readers who master the entire Lord of the Rings, especially in the original, are heroes similar to those who master the War and Peace, since the volume is really impressive. The epic phrases of Gandalf, Frodo, Peregrine Took and other characters from the movie "The Lord of the Rings" are disassembled into quotes and are still heard by many people. If you still want to introduce your child to this story and prepare it for The Lord, start with the Hobbit of the same author, he is more entertaining and harmless than the previous trilogy.
Fight club
Who doesn’t know the famous scene from the Fight Club, where Jack and Marla stand under the song “Where is my mind” and look at the explosions? This is a legendary film, based on the book of Chuck Palahniuk, it hides a lot of meanings and unusual facts, and Brad Pitt is revealed in one of the main roles in this film as well as possible.
The book itself, of course, provides a deeper and clearer understanding of the ideas outlined by the author. If you do not understand something in the film, it's time to open its original source, where in detail, with the manic accuracy of Dostoevsky and Kobo Abe, the motives, feelings and circumstances of the protagonist are described.
War of the Worlds
The film of the legendary Steven Spielberg “War of the Worlds” with Tom Cruise in the lead role at one time aroused great interest among the audience, because it is very interesting, to some extent exciting and even terrifying. This is one of those films that I want to watch again and again.
The anti-utopian and fantastic motive of the Herbert Wells story is reinforced by spectacular special effects and scenery, which creates an integral picture of a solid, high-quality movie.
Alice in Wonderland
The outstanding director Tim Burton in 2010 made the film “Alice in Wonderland” based on the tale of the same name by Lewis Carroll, where the inimitable Johnny Depp starred. The film came out crazy and bright, like the director himself.
The images of Cheshire, Caterpillar and Rabbit in it are changed and slightly different from the illustrations from the familiar cartoon, but this does not spoil the overall impression of the film, where the real and the fictional were mixed. And in 2016, a sequel was released entitled “Alice through the Looking Glass” from the director James Bobin.
East Express Murder
A year ago, director Kenneth Brann pleased fans of Agatha Christie with an adaptation of the famous detective "Murder on the Orient Express." It is difficult to convey in words the whole flavor and atmosphere of this film, its colorfulness, unusualness and character, fully conveying the style of the writer. This film has not yet managed to acquire the status of the legendary movie, but he has every chance for it.
This is an incredibly beautiful setting, where the city, train and mountain landscapes exude masterfully reproduced beauty. Costumes, sets, details - all this is admired, as a talented transfer of time and place.
It
One of the most fascinating and frightening novels of Stephen King was filmed for the second time just recently - in 2017, directed by Andres Musetti (Musketti). Prior to this, the book was released already in 1990 and did not impress the audience like the new version.
The second part of the film from the same director is expected next year. Viewers are looking forward to continuing the story of the struggle of adolescents with a clown killing innocent children.
