Loyalty to one’s convictions is a virtue endowed only with people who have fortitude. This quality is inaccessible to the weak, because its manifestation requires the mobilization of will, endurance and determination - attributes of a strong personality. Therefore, I believe that devotion to their ideals is definitely a triumph of will.
Consider examples from the literature to see if this is so. In the work “A. Duel” by A. Kuprin, the hero gives the floor to his beloved woman that he will not seriously shoot her husband in a duel. The fact is that Romashov was in love with Shurochka, the wife of his fellow soldier. The woman flirted with him, but did not give much hope. At the same time, the hero’s former passion took offense at his neglect and attacked Shurochka’s husband with letters with caustic hints about the couple. Jealousy challenged the opponent to a duel. Then his wife came to Romashov with a request - to participate in the performance with pistols, but in reality not to shoot. She was afraid that refusing a duel would damage her husband’s reputation, so they decided not to fight seriously. Romashov was an honest man and promised to keep his word. As a result, he died from the enemy’s path, without breaking it. I think in this case the main character behaved in such a way that there is no need to doubt the strength of his spirit and will.
Another example was described by P.P. Bazhov in the fairy tale "Stone Flower". Since childhood, Danila had a phenomenal gift: he masterfully worked with stone, making a variety of works of sculptural art. He was taken to himself and trained by an old master, and he also said that according to an old legend, the queen lives on Mednaya Gora, who owns the most beautiful flower made of stone in the world. Danila vowed to himself that he would discover the secret of the flower and create a bowl no worse. For this purpose, he even postponed the marriage. Gradually, the work occupied all his thoughts, and he went to the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. So he stayed with her workers. I respect the master for being faithful to my beliefs. The image of the mystical queen is an allegorical symbol of creativity, the muse, which has completely captured the consciousness of the creative person. This means that Danila is devoted to his work, so he was successful. Denying everything in the name of creativity is a strong decision of strong-willed nature.
Thus, loyalty to beliefs is a manifestation of fortitude. A man can save it only by straining his will, because fate is generously thrown into temptations to lead a traveler off the right path.
